Critical sag
When the sag the e-chain® higher than allowed for FLB, critical sag. Unsupported with permitted sag FLG
The e-chain® unsupported FLB when the sag more than 1/2 e-chain® link height and less
than the smallest available radius this e-chain® series. The overall travel distance can extended to
a maximum 100% from FLB
3D CAD, configurators, service life calculation and more www. igus® e-chains® are very well suited for high dynamics and long service life. The unsupported application is
the most common. Unsupported with
straight upper run FLG
2. This option means restrictions for acceleration,
speed and noise consequence three fundamental examples are detailed below -
please consult igus® you are considering this possibility will gladly provide you with a

can operated with the

1. Using e-chain®
in critical sag should avoided solved with special solutions. e-chain® should never be
installed with critical sag. most applications the e-chain® can
be used unsupported FLB without any problems. The e-chain®
or e-tube should replaced these cases. Critical sag
Unsupported
If the upper run the e-chain® operates without touching the lower run over the entire travel, is
called unsupported application. The overall straight, unsupported travel can increased
here maximum 50% the FLG and case option maximum 100%
Support the FLB area. Installing the e-chain® FLG always recommended.

● Identifying the maximum

What the unsupported length insufficient?
If your application, fill weight and travel fall outside the unsupported length parameters the
desired e-chain®, you have the following options:
● Select stronger igus® e-chain®
● Support the e-chain® the unsupported area. Applications may reach critical sag after long service times.
