8 Laboratory testing lightning
and surge protection components
In the BET Test Centre, lightning and surge protection
components, lightning protection structures and surge
protection devices are put through their paces by
highly qualified specialists accordance with the rel-
evant standards.
The BET possesses test generator for lightning cur-
rent tests 200 and hybrid generator for
surge current tests kV.
Tasks performed include developmental tests new
developments and modifications OBO surge pro-
tection devices according the testing standard IEC
61643-11. The tests for lightning protection compon-
ents are carried out according IEC/EN 62561-1
and those for spark gaps according IEC 62561-3.TBS
