Safety regulations and laws
At the beginning the nineteenth century children formed large part of
the working population Great Britain. This small over-
worked band men were the forerunners the modern HSE Inspectorate,
enforcing the safety laws passed Parliament. This Act gave
added powers the Inspectorate and the basis all modern statutory
health and safety laws. Non-compliance
with the laws this land may lead prosecution the Courts and pos-
sible imprisonment for offenders.
With the introduction the Factories Act 1833, the first four full time
Factory Inspectors were appointed. All statutes within the Acts of

of the laws they apply our electrotechnical industry.
The Health and Morals Apprentices Act 1802 was introduced by
Robert Peel attempt reducing apprentice working hours 12h per
day and improving the conditions their employment.
The Health and Safety Work Act 1974
Many governments have passed laws aimed improving safety work,
but the most important recent legislation has been the Health and Safety
at Work Act 1974. This Law not only increased the employer’s liability for
safety measures, but also put the responsibility for safety employees too. the years progressed,
new Acts Parliament increased the powers the Inspectorate and the
growing strength the trade unions meant that employers were increas-
ingly being pressed improve health, safety and welfare work. StatutoryRegulations have been
passed Parliament and have, therefore, become laws.
Health, safety and welfare legislation has increased the awareness every-
one the risks involved the workplace.
The most important recent piece health and safety law was passed by
Parliament 1974 called the Health and Safety Work Act.
Statutory laws

lives and they worked long hours for unscrupulous employers masters.
We shall now look eight Statutory Regulations they apply the elec-
trotechnical industry. The purpose the Act provide the legal framework
for stimulating and encouraging high standards health and safety at
work; the Act puts the responsibility for safety work both workers and
managers. The Factories Act
of 1833 restricted the working week for children aged 13–18 years 69h in
any working week.
Acts Parliament are made Statutes.
