The most important recent piece health and safety law was passed by
Parliament 1974 called the Health and Safety Work Act. They started work early their
lives and they worked long hours for unscrupulous employers masters. All statutes within the Acts of
Parliament must obeyed and, therefore, all need understanding
of the laws they apply our electrotechnical industry. StatutoryRegulations have been
passed Parliament and have, therefore, become laws. the years progressed,
new Acts Parliament increased the powers the Inspectorate and the
growing strength the trade unions meant that employers were increas-
ingly being pressed improve health, safety and welfare work. This Act gave
added powers the Inspectorate and the basis all modern statutory
health and safety laws. They were allowed employ small
number assistants and were given the responsibility inspecting fac-
tories throughout England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
. Non-compliance
with the laws this land may lead prosecution the Courts and pos-
sible imprisonment for offenders. The Factories Act
of 1833 restricted the working week for children aged 13–18 years 69h in
any working week.
The Health and Morals Apprentices Act 1802 was introduced by
Robert Peel attempt reducing apprentice working hours 12h per
day and improving the conditions their employment.
With the introduction the Factories Act 1833, the first four full time
Factory Inspectors were appointed. This small over-
worked band men were the forerunners the modern HSE Inspectorate,
enforcing the safety laws passed Parliament. This Law not only increased the employer’s liability for
safety measures, but also put the responsibility for safety employees too.
