The luminous flux fluorescent lamps is
highly dependent their operating position
and ambient temperature. The tube’s white
fluorescent coating converts this radiation
into high-quality, visible light.
These lamps need ignitors and current
limiting; these functions are combined in
an electronic ballast. Lamps that use
amalgam technology are optimised for use in
environments where there are fluctuating
temperatures (see page 97).91
