What Edison's experimenters were working on
was more than projector linked phonograph: was a
complete kit with rheostats convert the house current to
drive the machine. They had to
pass stringent tests, including written exams, before they were
sent out with the kinetophone kits. His was not the only system talking
pictures the market and Edison strove persuade the press
