Experiments continued recording and the synchronization
device which was still not satisfactory. He
tried using several horns get more balanced and louder
soundtrack but Edison told him that "thousands experiments"
with two more horns had yielded good results and "we
always returned one horn and threw away the rest. Hutchison felt that
the synchronizing cord was hopelessly inadequate for the job
and put too heavy burden the operator. The
