Edison told the press that would take about one year finish the machine and perfect the recording the soundtrack but when Hutchison joined the kinetophone work 1911 was not enjoying much success.IX-33 The work the experimental machine had reached stage in 1910 when could successfully demonstrated the Press. The thousands dollars spent years experiments had not brought total success. The kinetophone team began 1912 one the longest running experimental projects the laboratory's books. therefore worked on electrical synchronizer which could operated remote control. told Edison "We are against pretty stiff proposition" getting good results out the machine. Preparations were then made for the machine's commercial introduction but . The large team experimenters finally succeeded recording some kinetophone cylinders which passed the "old man's" scrutiny the spring 1912. Hutchison felt that the synchronizing cord was hopelessly inadequate for the job and put too heavy burden the operator. He tried using several horns get more balanced and louder soundtrack but Edison told him that "thousands experiments" with two more horns had yielded good results and "we always returned one horn and threw away the rest. The laboratory was naturally the scene this demonstration which included announcer making various sounds and dancer with musical accompaniment." 4^ Experiments continued recording and the synchronization device which was still not satisfactory
