To all ivhom concern:
Beit known that ikola Tesla, citizen
of the United States, residing New York,
in the county and State New York, have
5 invented new and useful Improvement in
Methods Intensifying and Utilizing Effects
Transmitted Through the Natural Media, of
which the following specification, refer
ence being had the accompanying draw-
io ings, 'which form part the same. 55
In several applications filed and pat
ents granted have disclosed other
methods accomplishing results this na
ture, which may briefly described fol
lows: one system the potential point 60
or region the earth varied imparting
to intermittent alternating electrifica
tions through one the terminals suit
able source electrical disturbances which,
to heighten the effect, has its other terminal 65
connected insulated body, preferably
of large surface and elevation.
Obviously whatever method employed
it desirable that the disturbances produced 90
by the transmitting apparatus should as
powerful possible, and the use cer
tain forms high-frequency apparatus which
I have devised and which are now well known
important practical advantages are this re- 95
spect secured. The
electrifications communicated the earth
spread all directions through the same,
reaching distant circuit which generally 70
has its terminals arranged and connected
similarly those the transmitting source
and operates upon highly-sensitive receiver. This method, furthermore, allows ad
vantage taken many those im- 85
provements which are practicable the or
dinary systems transmission involving the
use metallic conductor.
NIKOLA TESLA, NEW YORK, Y. 685,953, dated November 5,1901. One these
ways consists producing suitable ap
paratus rays radiations—that is, disturb-
25 ances—which are propagated straight lines
through space, directing them upon receiv
ing reeordingapparatus distance, and
thereby bringing the latter into action.
Another method based upon the fact that
the atmospheric air which behaves ex- 75
cellent insulator currents generated or
dinary apparatus becomes conductor under
the influence currents impulses enor-
mously-high olectromotive force which have
devised means for generating. These
various methods have their limitations, one
50 especially, which common all, being that
the receiving circuit instrument must be
maintained definite position with respect
to the transmitting apparatus, which often
imposes great disadvantages upon the use of
the apparatus.
