design and manufacture submarines, torpedoes, and other naval
weapons.
Edison had always seen military applications for his
inventions. Electricity offered many opportunities this
field: could used weapon— sprays water linked
with high voltage alternating currents, for example; means
of power; and for communications. This company credited with the design the first
remote-controlled weapon, torpedo powered electricity and
guided through elaborate cable system.
There were growing number businesses, such Vickers
Armstrong and Krupps, who depended military orders to
maintain their rapid multinational growth. The first military customers
for electricity were modern navies who used isolated plants to
