Fast data transm ission and control
In the past, utility companies and grid operators only
had access proprietary system and communication
solutions for switching systems. The result of
their work the new standard IEC 61850, hich is
supported standard switchgear anufacturers
and utility com panies alike. lthough individual solutions may be
sensible and appropriate the application, when comes
to the integration systems and cooperation between
different systems, compatibility the key. order tackle
this situation, the IEC and the IEEE formed joint working
group few years ago with the aim developing new
standard and establishing the market. Harmonized standards
for protection technology and control and communications
systems have not been available date. The aim was create a
uniform, global communication standard substation
control and automation engineering that would enable
fast data transmissions and controlling. The “International
Electrotechnical Commission” (IEC) and the “Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers” (IEEE) have now
responded drawing the international standard IEC
61850.
