shortest possible time, but the laboratory did not share this
concern for haste and there were many delays." The essence the problem was that there
was union interest between the lab and the Works. 78-81.

Edison's laboratory was not going dictated a
group Works engineers and ignorant businessmen. The
results then had sent the lab for another round of
experimentation.
The frustration the Works evident Insull's
complaint Edison: "we have spent great deal money on
experimental work insulation and ought getting some
