Down-conductors are the part the external lightning
protection system designed route the lightning cur-
rent from the air-termination system the earthing
system. order reduce the probability damage
from the lightning current flowing through the lightning
protection system, the down-conductors should at-
tached such way that, between the impact point
and the earth:
• Multiple parallel current routes exist
• The length the down-conductors kept short
as possible
• Equipotential bonding created between the con-
ductive parts the building structure.22
