Over the many years component and backplane
supply HARTING has introduced new press-in term ina
tion technology and lead free RoHS components and
processes the product production order meet
both legislative and commercial arket requirements. RoHS compliance has also been achieved by
the introduction lead free components; wave solder
ing and surface mount processes.
In its original design form the backplane utilised all
solder term ination connectors and components.
Top quality for very demanding applications
The processing power and robust, reliable performance
of WESTRACE has been proven extreme conditions
and dem anding situations, from Australia Norway
and high intensity Metro Systems long distance,
heavy haul lines. Solderless press
in connector term ination technology was successfully
introduced eliminate the expensive hand soldering
process. Ultimately significant technological contribu
tions have been achieved towards safe and reliable rail
transport systems.
Customer supplier synergy
HARTING and Westinghouse Rail Systems Limited have
both benefited from continuous product development
and supplier/custom cooperation over the product
lifecycle. One
side the board could flow soldered however the
components the other side were term inated using a
hand solder process which was considered labour
intensive and the required termination soldering qual
ity levels were extremely demanding
