Open the cable sheath means the ripcords (vertical the cable) long you need. Grip the ripcord with screwdriver. Cut back the sheath, glass armouring, ripcords and the strenght members.
Grip the ripcord and pull them the required length. Remove the short end attaching longitudinal cut.
Remove the cable sheath and the strain-bearing elements.
